Tonight marks the end of the road for “Project Runway” season 15, as the Lifetime series is going to be crowning its latest champion. Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn are still front and center, and while not every winner goes on to be the next name in fashion, we do at least think that the show has a solid track record. It’s certainly better than a show like “The Voice” has in terms of their singers being successful after the fact.
So what does the future hold for this series at the moment? Based on everything that we’re seeing great things. The show was already renewed by Lifetime not just for a 16th season, but also a 17th and 18th. They have a lot of confidence that this franchise will continue to be a major player, and inspire viewers while at the same time bringing a lot to the table in terms of drama and memorable fashion.
With this renewal, the network also ordered more of “Project Runway All-Stars” as well as the Junior version of the series.
As for when it could premiere, the show’s settled more in recent years into a pattern of doing only one season a year, which we think is best since you don’t want to overkill anything. Or feeling is that the show would launch again in the late summer / early fall and develop a little bit more of a pattern there. While this is a franchise that has made very few mistakes over the course of its run, we do think that more care should have been taken in working to ensure that there was a consistent pattern of when the show airs. That develops more of a tradition and also helps to not make it look like Lifetime is starting to dilute the brand.
