‘Call the Midwife’ season 6: Premiere date hopes for Helen George, cast after Christmas Special

Call -

Tonight, the “Call the Midwife” Christmas Special is set to air on BBC One, and we’re going to be left to wonder many questions on the other side of it. Specifically, one of the most notable ones revolves around when we’re going to be seeing the likes of Helen George, Charlotte Ritchie, and the rest of the cast return with some new episodes and stories to tell.

If we were to follow the trajectory of the past several seasons, then we would say with some confidence that the sixth season is going to premiere at some point around Sunday, January 16. This is the third Sunday in January, and that tends to be around the proper time-frame for the show. Maybe they push it back to January 23, but we feel like it is almost surely one of those two dates.

For the most part, the folks over at BBC One have not released a substantial amount of information for what is going to be coming up next on the series, but at the same time we are willing to make a few guesses as to what could be coming up. For example, the rise in technology will lead to some more questions and moral choices for some of the characters at Nonnatus House, while we are also going to have a chance to see personal struggles continue to take center stage as well. This is a show that does tend to follow a pattern, and that is something that we imagine that it will continue to do in terms of alternating between timely stories for the era and more personal ones.

The only other thing that we know for certain is that there are no plans for Miranda Hart to return as Chummy. While the consensus among fans is that they would love to see more of her on the show, at the same time it doesn’t seem like it was something that worked out in terms of the schedule.
