‘Shooter’ renewed by USA for season 2
Even though “Shooter” had itself an incredibly tricky road towards getting on the air this year after a number of various delays, the good news for it is that it eventually did — and to go along with that, eventually did enough to secure a renewal for a second season.
USA announced the news on Monday, with one of the show’s biggest selling points being live+same day consistency and also some strong DVR ratings. Per TVLine, the series in the network’s live+7 data is seeing the best overall performance in total viewers and the 18-34 demographic among any of their first-year shows.
In a statement, Chris McCumber of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment had the following to say:
“John Hlavin and the team behind Shooter have delivered a compelling action thriller that consistently engages a strong and loyal audience. We look forward to partnering once again with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions as we follow Bob Lee into his next chapter.”
The first season of “Shooter” is currently slated to air until January, and while there is no news at present as to when the second season would premiere, we’d certainly hope for a launch in late 2017. The good news about this renewal announcement is that it gives Hlavin and the rest of the team some time to craft some worthy stories, and allows them to have confidence that what they are doing is rather great. It’s a little bit different than a show that started off with some ratings struggles and was renewed in the 11th hour. That’s a situation where you still think you are up against the wall as you start to move further into production.
