‘Doctor Who’ star Peter Capaldi on hopes to continue show, potentially into season 11

Doctor who -Could Peter Capaldi remain the star of “Doctor Who” into season 11? There may not be confirmation on the subject still, but the more that we hear, and the more that we feel as though it is something that the actor is strongly considering.

In his latest interview of “The Andrew Marr Show” promoting the upcoming Christmas Special, Capaldi had the following to say when it came to the attention playing The Doctor gives him and the idea of sticking around this show, which has turned him into such a larger celebrity than he was at any other point in his career:

“My kind of attitude about it is that I didn’t want it to change my life much, but it does. But in as much as my private life goes, it remains much the same … When I go out into the world, I can’t, you know I don’t want to escape the idea that I’m Doctor Who, and it’s finite – I won’t be Doctor Who forever, so there will be a day when people don’t come and say hello.”

Capaldi added that he hopes that this particular day is not coming anytime soon. We know that he’s on board for the entirety of season 10, and he has been asked to remain on board for season 11 following the transition from Steven Moffat to Chris Chibnall as showrunner. Our feeling is that if Capaldi does leave after season 11, we’ll be sad, but we’ll feel as though we had several very good seasons of his character and there won’t be much to complain about. Plus, there’s something great about this show continuing to alternate things when it comes to its lead so that you have so many unique voices.

Are you as invested as we are in seeing more of Capaldi as The Doctor for the immediate future? Feel free now to let us know your thoughts on that and so much more in the attached comments! Meanwhile, head over here to get some other news regarding the show and the upcoming special. (Photo: BBC.)
