‘Shameless’ season 7 finale video: Fiona considers her options with Monica

If you watched the penultimate episode of “Shameless” over the weekend, then you already know a thing or two in terms of what happened to Monica: She’s no longer with the Gallaghers. She partied her face off, did some drugs, and then was found dead in the morning. This all would probably be a little bit harder for the family to accept, provided of course that Monica was a good, caring person who was actually there for the family most of the time.

As it is, all Fiona wants to do is simply have the body taken care of as fast as humanly possible. In the sneak peek below, Emmy Rossum’s character visits a funeral home where she is told about the wide array of different options for burying Monica, and the majority of them are far out of what she’s willing to spend. This scene gets progressively darker and darker, and it almost feels like “Six Feet Under” on an acid trip at the end of it.

As for whether or not Frank should be doing this, the answer is “probably.” Yet, this is Frank, so he’s probably off doing something ridiculous such as more drugs or not being particularly willing to take much in the way of responsibility for any of his actions.

Hopefully, the family can process a little bit of their grief in the finale, and we also get some sort of ending that leads us to ponder the future of the show going into a season 8. While the renewal for the show is not necessarily confirmed, at the same exact time it feels fairly likely. After all, Rossum now has a contract for another season of the show, and therefore there’s no more reason to worry about what appeared to be one of the few hangups out there.
