‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ casts ‘Lost’ alum Terry O’Quinn as Tom’s father

We already learned that Famke Janssen’s character of Susan “Scottie” Hargrave was the mother of Tom Keen on “The Blacklist: Redemption” — now, we’ve learned some news regarding Tom’s father, and it is equally exciting.

As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, “Lost” alum Terry O’Quinn (who recently appeared on “Secrets and Lies” season 2) will be appearing on the spin-off next year in the role of Howard Hargrave, the man responsible for the private military contracting firm otherwise known as Halcyon Aegis. He’s a complicated man with a rich history with his wife, and also has strong convictions that, at times, may not put him in accordance with what his company believes or represents.

Already, part of the excitement that comes with this casting in our head is the opportunity to see O’Quinn alongside Janssen and Ryan Eggold on the show, given that this has to come about at some point — otherwise, why cast him? We know that Terry is magnificent at playing enigmatic men with hidden motives, so there should be something fantastic that comes from seeing him in this capacity.

“The Blacklist: Redemption” will be premiering on NBC on February 23, and will air for eight weeks in the timeslot of the flagship “Blacklist” in 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. After that time, the original show will come back for the remainder of the season. For the time being, the largest mystery with the spin-off is precisely what the circumstances are that lead to Tom deciding to leave his wife and child behind to join forces with Scottie and Howard — or even if he has a choice in such matters. We’ve certainly seen plenty of him on the flagship show so far this season, almost as though he is a core part of that cast.
