‘The X Factor’ UK: Louis Walsh tries to turn things around with Liam Payne

X Factor -Over the course of the weekend, Louis Walsh found himself at the center of some controversy, and this time around, it didn’t necessarily have to do with anything happening on “The X Factor.” Instead, it revolved around some comments he made about former judge Cheryl Cole in a new interview, one that he gave leading up to the final airing this past weekend.

What did those comments do? Well, they infuriated One Direction member Liam Payne, who is Cole’s reported girlfriend and the father of her unborn child. He ripped into Walsh, telling him that he should be focused on helping his band 5 After Midnight find a place in the recording business over mouthing off. We did think that Louis meant his comments as a joke, but at the same exact time he could’ve been a little more tactful about them.

Well, Louis seems ready to turn the page and move forward, judging from what he had to say recently to the Daily Star:

“I think Cheryl and Liam starting a family will make her really happy. I honestly think she deserves to be happy … And I think this will make her happy over and above what her career does … Liam’s a nice guy. I have nothing bad to say about them.”

We’re not quite sure that this is an apology, given that you could still read the bit about Cheryl’s career as a dig and a sign that there is still no love lost between him and the Girls Aloud singer. Yet, at least he wished the two of them well, and everyone can seemingly move forward.

After all, there was a much more significant moment over the weekend involving a One Direction member: Louis Tomlinson performing a solo song during the final dedicated to his mother’s memory.
