‘MacGyver’ episode 11 preview: Bozer’s first mission; Riley’s mother

MacGyver -

Tonight, “MacGyver” on CBS is airing an episode that will allow us a chance to learn a little bit more about Mac’s past, at least through the lens of him and Bozer’s hometown. Now, moving forward into next week’s “Scissors,” we’re going to see an episode that is largely about one of the supporting characters in Riley.

While there may not be a cornucopia of details out there on this episode just yet, we do have a few that are worthy of drawing a little bit of excitement. Read on! There aren’t too many major spoilers ahead.

Synopsis – “MacGyver and Jack search for Riley, using a microwave and a power strip, after she mysteriously disappears and hacks into the NSA, possibly unleashing World War III. Also, Bozer goes on his first official mission, and Jack opens up about his history with Riley’s mother, Diane (Michael Michele).”

Whatever this “history” is, it may one of the more entertaining parts of this episode. For us, we’d certainly find it the most entertaining if Jack harbors some romantic feelings toward her mother, largely because it would create all sorts of awkward dynamics on the team — especially in the event that Riley finds out about it down the road (which she almost certainly well, whenever she potentially comes back and gets herself out of trouble). This sort of awkwardness is something George Eads is great at playing off of.

In speaking about the abduction itself, our hope at the moment is that this is going to be one of those said storylines where we end up seeing someone else at play here rather than Riley being responsible for disappearing in her own right. This would be rather sad, and somewhat of a departure from the character we’ve come to know on the series who has a rough history, but has shown some loyalty to the team.

Promo – Hey, we’re getting some Christmastime fun! We weren’t sure in looking at the synopsis alone that we were going to get this. Too bad it’ll probably be short-lived thanks to the NSA hack.
