‘Outlander’ season 3: Another progress report via Caitriona Balfe

Claire -

It’s a little unusual in some ways that we’re getting so much press on “Outlander” during early December, but then when you start to think about it, it makes a little more sense. Golden Globe nominations are coming out on December 12, and given how the Hollywood Foreign Press gave the show some much-deserved nods last year, there is obviously a hope that they will do the same thing once again this time.

With that, there are a number of different interviews out there featuring Caitriona Balfe, but we thought for the sake of this story we’d focus primarily on one key subject mentioned them: How far along the show is in season 3 production. Speaking according to Variety, the actress made it fairly clear that there’s a good chunk of the season in the bank now, and a good bit of it separated Claire from Sam Heughan’s character of Jamie:

“We’re almost halfway through [Season Three]. It’s been great. Obviously Sam [Heughan] and I — our storylines are quite separate for the first few episodes, so I’ve been filming a lot with Tobias [Menzies] and Sophie [Skelton]. And it’s been quite interesting. We’re trying to tell sort of vignettes of a person’s life over the space of 20 years, and it’s been really fun. But I think we’re all ready to get back to the Scottish Claire of it all.”

The romantic core of the show is the idea of these two people constantly finding a way to come back to each other, and we hope that this is something that will never change. Given how many hurdles that they’ve had to conquer on their way to getting back to each other, that should make their bond all the stronger in the end.
