‘The Bachelor’ premiere: Ben Higgins, Sean Lowe, Chris Soules to help advise Nick Viall

Nick -It’s become a bit of a recent tradition for former Bachelors and Bachelorettes alumni to turn up in order to support someone else kicking off their journey, and on the upcoming January 2 premiere of “The Bachelor,” it definitely looks as though we’re going to be getting more of the same.

ABC confirmed today that three guys in particular will be turning up in the first episode in order to offer up Nick Viall some advice before he heads over to the mansion for what will probably be a crazy first night: Chris Soules, Sean Lowe, and Ben Higgins. While we tend to assume that these returning Bachelors / Bachelorettes are familiar with the show’s new lead before they film this little segment, it’s a little bit unusual this season given that at least two of the guys know Nick very well. Chris and Nick each made it to the final three of Andi Dorfman’s season of “The Bachelorette,” while Nick and Ben were both in the final three of Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season. We at the very least know that Sean and Nick spoke to each other during “After Paradise” over the summer, given that Sean was appointed co-host of the program. Therefore, there’s familiarity all around.

In addition to confirming this, ABC also teased a few other things about the first time:

-A number of the women will be wearing red, thinking that this was a way for them to stand out. Instead, so many people wear the color that it has the opposite effect.

-One woman in particular will be turning up with Neil Lane, who apparently now can just be hired out to accompany people to show off engagement rings. This particular hopeful will show Nick, with Neil’s help, what ring she would like.

-One of these women will be from Nick’s past, and that could throw everyone for a loop.

We’ll be planning wall-to-wall coverage of this “Bachelor” season yet again, devoid of spoilers and full of silly humor. You’ll be able to check that out, as always, over on our official show page. (Photo: ABC.)
