‘I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!’ 2016 finale: Was Scarlett Moffatt, Joel Dommett the winner?

Hopefully, we can all agree on one thing when it comes to “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” regardless of whatever season we’re talking about: This is an utterly ridiculous show. While certainly fun in many ways, it’s also enormously cheesy, hard to buy into, and the celebrities on this show may actually be saying “I’m a celebrity” for the very first time as participants of it. How many of these people would you recognize on the street?

We could make comparisons as to whether this show or “Celebrity Big Brother” has the cast of lesser-known people on it year in and year out, but that is probably a discussion for a different article.

The main thing that we want to point out going into the end of the show was that we had our final two officially named: Scarlett Moffatt of “Gogglebox” and comedian Joel Dommett. Actor Adam Thomas of “Emmerdale” found himself eliminated in third place on the night. From here on out, we were at the mercy of seeing whatever the votes decided.

So who was the winner? It’s … Scarlett! Even the drum roll to announce the winner of the show was cheesy. Ant and Dec announced the news with glee, and now she can hold the title of “Queen of the Jungle.” Wasn’t it a little bit of a giveaway when they said “Queen” before announcing her name? That’s probably a rhetorical question.

We’d spend some time now trying to figure out what sort of change the show should make moving forward, but this isn’t a “Survivor” or an “X Factor.” It’s really not meant to be taken seriously. Enjoy the series for what it is, and then wait around for it come back next year. It’s such a short series that its hiatuses feel especially long.
