‘Talking Dead’ lineup: Chandler Riggs, Gale Anne Hurd, Josh Homme joining Chris Hardwick

Carl -

Tonight, “The Walking Dead” is going big with a 90-minute episode entitled “Sing Me a Song,” an episode that we’re assuming is probably going to be about Carl showing up to the Saviors’ compound right in the middle of karaoke night. We have a feeling Negan could pull off a mean Bob Seger cover.

Okay, that’s probably not happening, but this is probably going to be a big episode given where we are in the show right now, and what we’ve been building to over the past few weeks. There’s dissension in the ranks over how to handle Negan, Daryl is still prisoner, and there’s the possibility of getting to see what’s under Carl’s eyepatch (is that really something we need to see?) based on what AMC shared on social media.

As for “Talking Dead,” the show’s stacking up with a rather-great lineup for later tonight.

Chandler Riggs – We’ve seen Riggs give some great performances on the show over the years, even to the point where we proclaimed him a couple of seasons ago to be a Supporting Actor Emmy candidate. It didn’t actually happen, but we threw our thoughts out into the universe. Here’s to hoping for great material for him tonight, and that Carl makes it through alive.

Gale Anne Hurd – In addition to being a great executive producer on the show, she’s also been a great guest on “Talking Dead” before and has a tremendous amount of insight on both this show and everything else that she’s done over the course of a pretty fantastic career so far.

Josh Homme – We won’t pretend to know much about Queens of the Stone Age, but we figure that if he’s coming on the show, he probably has a good bit to say about the series.

For more of our own discussion of “The Walking Dead” leading up to tonight’s new episode, head over here to watch a sneak peek that we’ve described as Michonne staring her past in the face and saying goodbye.
