‘Outlander’ season 3 notes: Caitriona Balfe, casting rumors, and PCAs

Outlander -It feels almost like an eternity since we’ve done an “Outlander” notes piece with some micro-highlights of what’s going on in the world of the show and the fan community, so what better time to dive in than today? It’s early in the month, the third season’s been in production for a rather long time, and there are many more adventures to be had there.

We’ll share the latest casting rumor with you a tad later in the article. For now, read on for other updates…

Help a good cause by supporting Caitriona Balfe – As you may have heard, Caitriona is in the process of auctioning off the outfit she wore to the BAFTA Scotland Awards, the same one in which she won the Actress – Television Award, as a way to raise further funds for the World Child Cancer charity. It is a wonderful cause, and even if you don’t bid on the auction (which you can do over here), it’s still worthy of your attention.

People’s Choice Awards voting – There is arguably no better way to support the show during the offseason than helping to get it some love during the People’s Choice Awards. The show will air early in the new year on CBS, and you can commence voting for it now over at this link. The series is nominated for Best TV Series and Best Premium Series, Sci-Fi / Fantasy. Meanwhile, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are nominated as Sci-Fi Actor and Actress, respectively. We’ll see if anyone leaves the show with some hardware! (Someone really should tell them that they have Emilia Clarke’s name spelled incorrectly on the ballot…)

Casting rumors – As Outlander Daily reports (see the tweet below), we may have our Mary McNab in Emma Campbell-Jones (“Doctors”). For now, the operative word here is “may,” given that this has not been confirmed at present by Starz. For the time being, we don’t want to speculate too much on this one.
