‘The Bachelor’ poster with Nick Viall asks all-important question
The poster highlights the line that we used to start off this article perfectly, and what may be the most impressive thing about it is that it’s not trying to force Nick down a path where her mirrors the image of every single former Bachelor that came before him. It allows him to continue to retain some of the edge that he had from the very first season of the franchise, and that’s in part what makes him special. He’s different!
This fourth season comes after Nick was rejected during two finales of “The Bachelorette” by both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe. From there, he and Jen Saviano had a brief relationship on “Bachelor in Paradise” before he broke it off. He was a surprise choice to take on the role of leading man, but his selection shows something rather significant in ABC’s own willingness to shift things up in terms of what they are trying to do with this franchise. It’s no longer just about finding the most commercially-viable man that they can sell as this sweet guy from a small town; they want to bring the franchise to another level and tell new stories. Nick’s the right guy for that marketing strategy.
With that being said, Nick’s history of conflict on this show almost guarantees that there will be moments of hot mess from start to finish this season, starting with the premiere on January 2.
