‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2, episode 8 video: Captain Cold knows how to make an entrance

Legion of Doom -

There’s a love sort of plurality within “Legends of Tomorrow” these days. Around the halfway point of season 1, Captain Cold, a criminal with a hero’s heart, decided that Mick Rory was too dangerous of a liability to the team and was ready to put him down. Now, the midseason finale coming on Tuesday not offers up largely the alternative.

If there is a way to look at this, it’s as follows: The Legion of Doom is beginning to assemble during the gangster era of Chicago, which does make some sense given that these characters are some of the biggest gangsters around. Damien Darhk can almost serve as the historical liaison given that he was around for all of these different eras, whereas Eoabard Thawne is the person responsible for carrying these people through different timelines. Malcolm Merlyn is the master strategist of the three, and with Captain Cold, you have the biggest pure criminal of the group.

The question that generates the utmost curiosity is this: How is Leonard Snart there? What iteration is this character? Is this the same one Mick Rory spoke to at the end of season 1? The time in which this Snart is taken from is extremely important when it comes to understanding his mental state, who he wants to hurt, and how precisely he wants to hurt them. It also could be devastating for the status of Rory on the team; right when he’s starting to find his own voice, here comes someone who manipulated him for much of his life. (To be fair, Rory both allowed it and at times wanted it.)

This episode will likely leave you on some sort of cliffhanger until the show returns with further episodes in the new year. At some point during the run of the back half of episodes, an opportunity will present itself to tell more of the Legion of Doom origin story.
