Why ‘Gilmore Girls’ creator isn’t ruling out a season 9

Gilmore Girls -

The eighth season of “Gilmore Girls” was effectively “A Year in the Life,” and we know that there are many people out there who likely finished that a number of days ago. Even if you limited yourself to just one “episode” a day, you still would’ve finished on Monday and now you have to wait and see what’s coming up next. (Don’t worry, we’re not going to spoil anything significant in this article.)

What we’ve heard time and time again about the future of the series is that nobody’s necessarily ruling it out among the cast, and luckily the same thing goes for creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. After all, without her there is no “Gilmore Girls”; we’ve already seen what the show looks like without her, and we cannot say we were the biggest fan in the world.

Speaking on the subject of the future to TVLine, here is what Sherman-Palladino had to say about keeping an open mind on the future of the series, even if she’s not exactly committing to doing more of it, either:

“I don’t rule anything in my life out. When people were talking about a Gilmore movie [after the original series ended] I was always like, ‘That’s not going to happen.’ But I wasn’t going to say no. Because… why say no to anything?”

For the time being, she is working on a new Amazon pilot entitled “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and we figure that will be the next order of business for some time. We imagine that the performance of “A Year in the Life” on Netflix is going to spawn further interest in bringing Stars Hollow back to the streaming provider, but it will then take finding a way to get the entire cast to commit again — maybe you wouldn’t get the big names again like a Melissa McCarthy, but who knows? Maybe they’d be down for something similar.

The thing to remember here is to never say never, but at the same time, be enormously grateful that you even had this.
