‘The X Factor’ UK changing things up for 2016 winners’ single
We already heard that the “X Factor” UK winners’ single this year was going to be a little bit different. After all, this time around Ed Sheeran is writing the song, so we’re going to see someone performing a new song rather than some dated cover that’s been slightly modified in order to better suit their style. As far as we can tell, we’d consider that to be a pretty vast improvement.
Now, we’re hearing one other thing about this single, and that is that we’re no longer going to see the winners’ song released in any physical form after many years of this being the tradition. Meanwhile, many of the consumers these days are more inclined to just pick up the digital versions of the album anyway. The money is going to charity either way, and in doing things this way, you’ll probably make even more money to charity without having to pay back the cost.
If there is a clear downside, it’s that we don’t know what the winner of the season is going to sign in the event that there are some sort of signings that take place over the weeks that follow the end of the season. There are still a couple of episodes left this season, so we’ll see what happens there as the competition is whittled down.
Per a report from the Official Charts Company, the show is opting to go in this direction, but it’s not
