‘The X Factor’ UK results: Was Honey G or 5 After Midnight eliminated?
Tonight’s edition of “The X Factor” results was, without a doubt, one of the most important ones we’ve seen from the show to date. Basically, we were facing a possibility where if Honey G didn’t go home, she could (somehow) make it to the final four. If that happened, it would be appalling … but we really didn’t think it would based on the performances from last night.
The first act who was put through to the final four today was Saara Aalto, which seemed appropriate given the amazing night that she had on the show last night. Her reaction pretty much said it all in terms of how she felt about it. The second person put through was Matt, and this left us in the position we expected, with Emily Middlemas, Honey G, and 5 After Midnight being the final acts that were going to be in danger of going home. Dermot O’Leary announced that Emily was moving on, which meant that Honey G would have to face off against Louis Walsh’s last remaining group.
This choice seemed pretty easy from the moment that 5 After Midnight started to sing, especially since they did a different song while Honey G simply chose to reprise something that she did previously in the competition. She had a wacky run, but there was no way to imagine that the judges would deprive the worthy lineup for the semifinals.
So what is the large-scale impact of Honey G being on the show? It’s hard to say, but we do think that she had a really great run and this will probably shake things up in a big way moving forward when it comes to how certain acts try to use the public and the media in order to push further into the competition.
