‘Call the Midwife’ season 6: Helen George not planning to leave anytime soon
Even though it’s only been on the air for five seasons so far, “Call the Midwife” nonetheless has gone through a fairly wide array of different cast changes. For example, we lost Jessica Raine before the start of season 4, Miranda Hart’s role of Chummy is significantly reduced, and the Sister Evangelina character was killed off in the most-recent finale. This is not a show afraid of change, and you see that in how they continue to be bold in the way in which they choose to introduce storylines.
Given the recent news that the BBC has renewed the show through season 9, we do think it is fair to wonder whether or not we could be losing someone like a Helen George, as well. Luckily, the actress doesn’t seem to have any plans to leave in the near future. Speaking per You Magazine, she makes it clear what it would take in order to keep her stay, and it really sounds like nothing more than the show staying the course:
“As long as I’m getting good storylines and everyone is lovely, there’s no reason not to be on it. I love that it’s a really female-strong job. It’s a show about women, made by women, largely for women.”
There is utterly no reason to leave the series if the primary goal is to continue to be a part of a success story. It’s one of the most-watched scripted series in Britain, it has viewers all over the world, and even its schedule is such that you do have some months off that you can do other things such as work on movies and look at some other avenues.
