‘Barney Miller,’ ‘Firefly’ actor Ron Glass dead at 71
The downward spiral otherwise known as 2016 continues today with more sad news: We have now lost from the world Ron Glass.
The actor, known by many for his work on “Barney Miller,” has passed away at the age of 71. No further details have been made available at this time.
While most people will probably remember Glass best from his work on the aforementioned comedy, we’ll cherish him first and foremost for his work on “Firefly,” one of our favorite shows of all time, as the insightful Shepherd Book. he brought so much wisdom and care to that role, and helped to expand the universe of the show to a great degree. “Firefly” of course became so popular after its cancellation on Fox that it eventually landed a motion picture in “Serenity,” which Glass also appeared in.
The actor was still regularly working leading up to his death, having appeared in multiple episodes of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” over the past several years. He’s the sort of actor who could do anything, whether it be comedy, drama, or voice work behind the scenes. He’s also someone who was intensely beloved by everyone he worked with seemingly. For more evidence of that, all you have to do is look at some of the tributes below from the people he worked with on “Firefly,” including Alan Tudyk and Adam Baldwin. Given that this is a slow weekend for television and many people are enjoying a holiday break, why not take a moment in pop in an old episode? It’s a way to reminisce over one of TV’s greatest gone-too-soon gems, and a reminder of how great this man was and how this in this case may be a reflection of the person he was in life.
Thoughts and condolences go out to Glass’ family during what has to be a very difficult time. (Photo: Fox.)
