‘Arrow’ turns 100: Six characters who need to return within next 100
The 100th episode of “Arrow” is coming Wednesday, and in honor of that, we’re going to have a few articles over the coming days commemorating what an achievement it really is that this show made it to this point. To think we still remember watching the pilot at FanExpo in Toronto prior to the premiere; the moment we heard the audience reaction after the end credits, we knew that we were going to have a hit on our hands.
As with any show that lasts this long, we get an opportunity to meet a number of awesome characters … and not all of them ultimately end up sticking around as long as we’d like. Below, you can take a look at six still-living people we’d like to have back before the series ends — for a while we tried to narrow this list down to five, but we could’ve find a reason to cut anyone.
5. Walter Steele – One of the most interesting characters to come out of the early seasons of the show. His close ties to Moira Queen were at one point such that Oliver and Thea considered him to be a part of the family, and he was also prominent enough in Star City that there were questions regarding whether or not he would eventually run for City Mayor. That didn’t happen. He’s completely fallen off the map, and it’s a shame given that a return from him would help to remind Oliver and Thea more of where they came from in present-day.
2. Sin – One of Roy Harper’s close friends from the Glades, and a valuable source of information regarding what is really going on there. Unfortunately, this is also a character who’s been gone from the series for some time, more than likely because of Bex Taylor-Klaus’ gigs elsewhere. Yet, bringing her back serves a purpose given that she also has a connection to Sara Lance over on “Legends of Tomorrow.”
3. Helena Bertinelli / Huntress – Once again this is probably a move that is such due to scheduling more so than anything else. She’s an iconic part of the comics, and as a result of that, we have to assume that she is someone that the show would love to have back down the line since there’s a whole lot more to do with this character.
4. Nyssa al Ghul – She was a close friend to Laurel and a former lover of Sara’s, and given what she did with the League of Assassins, it feels almost imperative that we have a check-in with her at some point in order to see precisely what is going on with her. Also, we still ‘ship her and Sara and want them to get together … maybe this is better for a “Legends of Tomorrow” article at this point, but still.
5. Roy Harper – Maybe he’ll make a surprise appearance in the 100th episode, but we haven’t heard anything about it. It’s going to be strange to not see Colton Haynes given what he meant to the show and to Team Arrow at a time when they were just starting to expand beyond the original team. Hopefully, he’s off somewhere now having a happy life he couldn’t have in Star City.
6. Slade Wilson – Yes, we’re getting Deathstroke in the 100th episode, but we’ve seen zero evidence that Manu Bennett is playing him. That’s just not the same, as Slade is to us is tied with Malcolm Merlyn for the show’s greatest villain. He was smart, powerful, and above all, incredibly dangerous.
