‘Game of Thrones’ season 7: Man behind The Mountain makes big statement
In what is news that should really not be a surprise to anyone at all, a guy who plays a character named The Mountain is very much confident about “Game of Thrones” and its place in history. Might we say that he is putting the show at the top of Mount Rushmore, or at least one in terms of TV? It seems fair.
While Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson was not with the show from day one, at the same exact time the majority of the character’s most-iconic scenes have come with him playing the role. He’s been awesome in the part, and we kind of love that he’s not the traditional actor who doesn’t exactly follow the beaten bath.
In speaking on the subject of the aforementioned legacy to Digital Spy, here is what the actor had to say:
“Everything has to end at some point, so it sounds just great to me … I think everything gets boring in the long run, so if they made 20 seasons, then it would be harder to keep it as exciting.
“So I think it’s good to finish it with eight seasons – and the last seasons should be fantastic, so it will be the most memorable TV show of all time forever!”
We do think he’s got a point that it’ll be one of the most memorable shows of all time, but the most? Well, it’s gotta stick the landing first! That series finale is probably going to be what separates a great show from an amazing show, and that matters far more than we can ever put into words precisely here.
The good news is that this final episode is still a ways out. We’ve got seven episodes coming next year, and presumably the final six will come up in 2018.
