‘The X Factor’ UK: Honey G reportedly staging live mannequin challenge to stay alive
Well, how’s this for something completely different and unexpected? Everyone knows that the Mannequin Challenge is the sort of pop-culture phenomenon that has captured the attention of a good many people all of the country, so we cannot exactly say that we’re all that surprised to see it enter the realm of “The X Factor.” With that being said, the idea of having Honey G try to stage something of this vein during the middle of a live show feels completely weird and like a total PR stunt. How is she going to be able to perform in that sort of environment?
Well, it doesn’t really matter so much what we’re questioning about the move here, given that it’s happening regardless according to some sources. According to a new report from The Sun, here is what one of them had to say about her choices for the coming week:
“Honey is singing two songs this week — U Can’t Touch This by MC Hummer, picked by Louis, and her own choice, a mash-up of Salt-N-Pepa’s Push It mixed into Black Beatles.
“She came up with the amazing idea of doing a Mannequin Challenge live on the show and getting all the judges involved. It’s a big risk in front of millions of viewers as it could all go horribly wrong, but if she pulls it off it will be huge.
“After ending up in the bottom two last week she is doing everything she can to get into the semis.”
Do we think that this will help to make her song a little bit more viral? Absolutely, but at the same time we don’t exactly think that there is going to be a flock of people lining up to vote for Honey G just because she did a viral internet sensation on the show. Maybe she won’t get the lowest vote total, but she’d have to avoid the bottom two and that could be difficult.
