‘America’s Got Talent’: NBC promotes Christmas Special with Grace VanderWaal, Jon Dorenbos
Come December 19 on NBC, we’re going to be getting a chance to see something a little bit different — and something that we personally feel should be an annual tradition: An “America’s Got Talent” holiday special.
During the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, we got our first preview for the special, which is going to be headlined by reigning champion Grace VanderWaal. There are also going to be appearances from such other notable act from the past as Brian Justin Crum, The Clairvoyants, Mat Franco, Jon Dorenbos, Jackie Evancho, Calysta Bevier, The Silhouettes, Ronee Martin, Piff the Magic Dragon, Terry Fator, Olate Dogs, The Professional Regurgitator, and an oldie-but-a-goodie act from a few seasons ago in Professor Splash.
Ultimately, kudos to NBC for giving us a pretty good group of performers on the night.
We wish that the network uploaded the promo for us to be able to share it with you here, but one of the specific moments that they showed us was judge Simon Cowell proclaiming that something he sees in the special will be staying with him for the majority of the rest of his life.
The best thing about this special is mostly that it can just be kind of fun and loose — we’re really not sure why we need the judges there for this other than atmosphere, but we won’t really complain about it. There’s no competition, and this is all about just getting to see some old favorites to help to better usher in the holiday. It’s really something that NBC should’ve been doing for many years in order to celebrate more of the great acts they’ve managed to accumulate over the years.

One of the reasons they need the judges is that Heidi Klum is doing a duet with Sal. Looking forward to that.
