‘Saturday Night Live’: Emma Stone returning December 3 to host; Shawn Mendes to perform
What a remarkable run that it’s been for “Saturday Night Live” so far this season. Just think for a minute about the fact that we’ve had seven shows within the first eight weeks, and that typically, we’re lucky to get around 21 in a season. Therefore, we’re already a good third of the way through the run, and there are still a good six or so months left until we get close to the end of the season.
We knew that next week the show would be off for the Thanksgiving holiday, and so with that, our question was when the show was going to be coming back (we assumed there’d be at least one December episode, if not more) — and also who is going to be the next host.
As it turns out, we’re getting a return from Emma Stone! She will be back to take on the December 3 edition of the host, while Shawn Mendes will be there to perform as the musical guest.
Stone’s return to the show is one that we’re always going to welcome, if for no other reason than that she’s got the experience now for us to know that she can really come out and deliver on some hilarious sketches. She’s also made cameo appearances even when she didn’t host, and that’s a sure-fire way to know that she is a favorite of the cast and the producers. We’re not quite sure what she’s going to bring to the table, but we’re excited to find out.
Meanwhile, Mendes is someone who we could at the very least see making a cameo in a sketch or two.
