‘Blindspot’ season 2 spoilers: The weight of Sandstorm on Weller
Why is Weller still alive on “Blindspot“? From a meta perspective, this may seem like a relatively easy question to answer: He’s one of the key players on the show, and obviously they don’t want to kill him off.
Now, it goes a little bit deeper than that when it look specifically into why Sandstorm chose to keep him alive, and whatever plans that they may have in store for him. It’s something that the character doesn’t have a clear answer on at present, but we do have the following quote from executive producer Martin Gero to Entertainment Weekly on the subject:
“It’s certainly taking an emotional strain on him already and it will just continue to be very difficult for him … But I think he’ll find comfort in his friends, most notably Jane as they get a lot closer over the back half of the season.”
Maybe you can consider the latter part of that sentence as a sign of further hope for all of the Jane – Weller ‘shippers out there? We’ve never really doubted that those two still have some sort of romantic future together, but it was certainly clear that there were a wide array of issues that they also needed to get through following everything at the end of this season. There are trust issues there, and we imagine that this is made all the more challenging thanks to a past that Weller and Jane are both collectively learning a little bit more about over time.
Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait a while longer now to see what’s coming on “Blindspot,” as the road ahead for the show will not continue until we get around to the new year.
