‘Dancing with the Stars 23’ finale spoilers: What Jana Kramer, Calvin Johnson, top 4 will perform
The “Dancing with the Stars” finale is right around the corner, and on Monday and Tuesday night you’re going to see a wide array of different routines as the final four dancers fight for the Mirrorball Trophy. When you consider some of the recent scores, we do think that there’s something to be said for this being one of the tightest races ever — of course, we’re not sure we feel that same way when it comes to factoring in fan bases. We still think that this is Laurie Hernandez’s race to lose, even if we have seen James Hinchcliffe score big in some polls online.
What we’ve got for you below are some of the specific dances that the remaining finalists are set to do, and it’s going to follow a familiar pattern to past finales — you’ll get a chance to see a routine that offers a chance at redemption for a style that didn’t work out so well previously, and there’ll also be a Freestyle! We firmly believe that this dance will be what ends up making or breaking many of these finalists.
Laurie Hernandez & Valentin Chmerkovskiy
Redemption Style: Paso Doblé – “Wicked Ones” by Dorothy
Freestyle – “Brand New” by Ben Rector
We’re not altogether familiar with either one of these songs, but we feel like for Laurie, her best move is going to be getting a chance to showcase many of her gymnastics skills in the Freestyle. It’ll set her apart.
James Hinchcliffe & Sharna Burgess
Redemption Style: Foxtrot – “It Had to Be You” by Harry Connick Jr.
Freestyle: “Beethoven’s 5 Secrets” by The Piano Guys
It’s an interesting choice by James and Sharna to focus more on the emotional, lyrical routines in the final round of the competition. For those wondering, “Beethoven’s 5 Secrets” is a mashup of sorts of the famed composer and the OneRepublic song “Secrets.”
Calvin Johnson Jr. & Lindsay Arnold
Redemption Style: Viennese Waltz – “I Am Your Man” by Ryan Shaw
Freestyle: “Please Mr. Postman”/”I Want You Back” medley by The Marvelettes/Jackson 5
For Calvin, doing a fun freestyle is by far the best move. He knows that his energy and his personality are his real selling point; he’s like the male version of Laurie in that regard.
Jana Kramer & Gleb Savchenko
Redemption Style: Tango – “Stay the Night” by Zedd
Freestyle: “Unstoppable” by Sia
Jana and Gleb’s strength the entire competition has been their chemistry and their ability to channel emotion. We imagine that this is going to remain the case for these final routines.
