‘Grey’s Anatomy’ winter finale: Is Amelia gone, and will Owen look for her?

Amelia and Owen -Tonight’s “Grey’s Anatomy” winter finale contained many key moments and big surprises, but we clearly think that one of the biggest ones took place when we saw Amelia go missing-in-action following a series of conflicts with Owen, with one of the biggest ones being a pregnancy that didn’t turn out to be the case, one that opened up an old wound with him that he first experienced with Cristina.

Is she gone forever? We don’t quite think so. From a logical standpoint, the biggest reason why this move is happening is because of the fact that Caterina Scorsone recently welcomed a child in real life, and with that she will be on maternity leave for a few episodes. This marks a way that the show can remove her from the equation in a way that makes some sense.

As for how she’ll come back, just remember that this is Owen we’re talking about here! He’s one of the most resilient people out there, so you better believe he’s going to give this his best effort. Speaking per TVLine, Kevin McKidd had the following to say about what we can expect to see from him:

“Owen being Owen… man, he’s a hunter. You saw what he was like when Megan disappeared: He didn’t stop looking for her for years! So he’s going to be like a dog with a bone. He’s going to find out where she is. It’s hard for him, because he loves her! But she keeps doing this thing where everything looks like we’re on track, and then something happens and she pulls away.”

Eventually if this pattern continues, we do think that Amelia is going to lose Owen — we just don’t think that we’re at that point just yet. Let’s hope that the two find happiness, but we know from experience watching this show that it never quite works out easily.
