Marvel’s ‘The Inhumans’ could join ‘Agents of SHIELD’ on ABC schedule next year

Marvel -

Remember when Marvel was planning to make a big-screen movie all about the Inhumans? Well, that feature-film was scrapped a little while back, but clearly there are still some plans for them being plotted out.

Sources confirm that ABC is now in business with the comic-book company (which makes sense, given that the two parties are both owned by Disney) for an Inhumans series that could air next fall and focus on Black Bolt and the Royal Family. Early plans suggest that the first two episodes could be screened in theaters, but the series itself will be a part of the network’s lineup. As of right now signs point to this show being a go as opposed to the pilots that didn’t work out for “Marvel’s Most Wanted,” the last attempt by the network to get something going aside of “Agents of SHIELD.”

What’s also interesting is that this show isn’t necessarily being thought of as a spin-off to “SHIELD,” even though there are some characters who are appearing on that show like Daisy Johnson and Jeffrey Mace who are Inhumans and have powers. Maybe this is a way of separating the products from each other slightly, given that this show is struggling now in the ratings and ABC may want a larger audience for the new series (well, they should).

As of right now, we’d still imagine that there is potential for a crossover or two here, provided that “Agents of SHIELD” makes it to a fifth season. If it doesn’t, we still see potential for a few characters to pop up here and there.

What do you think: Will you watch an Inhumans series, and do you prefer this to the original idea of there being a movie? Share below, and we’ll have further news on the subject once we actually do know more. (Photo: ABC.)
