See first ‘Saturday Night Live’ promo with Dave Chappelle

SNL -There is another new episode of “Saturday Night Live” coming this weekend, and this one is going to be a little bit different. Dave Chappelle is not a guy known for appearing on a lot of late-night shows, or really appearing in many places in general. He’s notoriously reclusive, which is why it’s such a tremendous get for NBC in the first place that they were able to get him on board for this.

The first promo for this edition of the show keeps thinks relatively simple, which makes a little bit of sense given that it’s only Tuesday and we’re not even sure that the show has decided on sketches just yet. (Heck, we figure that Dave and everyone else tonight are watching the election results.) This promo features Chappelle arriving at 30 Rock and getting set for the show.

What’s the purpose of this? More than anything else, we imagine that this is just a means to get people excited early, especially for everyone watching NBC’s election coverage tonight. They want people to recognize just now notable it is that they have Chappelle on board as the host.

In terms of specific sketches, we have a feeling that the show is probably going to use Dave for a few things that have absolutely nothing to do with the election. After all, we feel like they are more than cognizant of the fact that there are plenty of people out there who are looking for an escape from some of the craziness that is going on this week. “SNL” will probably base a lot of its election coverage on whatever happens tonight — including how much they use Alec Baldwin moving forward.
