‘Poldark’ season 2, episode 10 (finale) video: Ross, Demelza consider his future
The season finale of “Poldark” on BBC One is just over a day away, and based on the sneak peek below, we can say one thing about it in particular, it is this: The shade is real!
Specifically, in this preview you’ve got an opportunity to see Ross pontificate over his future in the military, something that he’s been prompted to think about further as a result of Dwight’s moves. He’s seen his friend make the decision to get away from his Caroline strife by becoming a soldier once more, and now Ross may do the same.
Just in case you’re wondering, Demelza is having none of his supposed heroism. She makes it clear to him that she thinks he is just trying to escape the damage that he’s done following his actions with Demelza, and because he’s seen Dwight run away that he should, as well. She also suggests that this wouldn’t be the first time he’s considered abandoning both her and his son Jeremy. Demelza’s angry and she’s saying some pretty cutting things, but doesn’t she really have that right at this point? Ross is no saint, and she wants him to stop pretending that he is some sort of fanciful hero running about saving the day left and right. It’s an illusion and a mask that he is putting on for a other people when she sees a far different side.
Maybe we are perhaps being a bit hard on Ross, given that we do think he’s a personal who wants good for others and he’s not overtly malicious. Yet, he has to face the reality of his actions, and while he may claim that he realizes it, we’re still not sure that he grasps the reality of them just yet. Maybe this finale will be a chance to change that; if nothing else, it could be a foundation for the upcoming third season.
Could season 2 end with a cliffhanger? It’s a question we posed recently, and we wrote an article all about it over at this link. (Photo: BBC.)
