‘Elementary’ season 5 spoilers: Kitty Winter will return
Earlier this season, it was confirmed that a major recurring player from the past of “Elementary” would be back for the fifth season, but there wasn’t too much information regarding who it would be.
Now, we’re happy to have some sort of answer to the subject. According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, Ophelia Lovibond will be returning for two episodes and possibly more later this season as Kitty Winter, who previously was a partner / mentee of Sherlock Holmes back when Joan Watson was not in close collaboration with him. While we and many others were first unsure of Kitty upon her arrival, she over time became a fan favorite for many before eventually making her departure.
Luckily, one of the nice things about her exit was that the door was ajar enough for her to eventually stage a return — and return she will! This is why we always advocate for more shows to find creative ways to eliminate recurring players other than killing them off. It’s so much more creative by and large to have possibilities where you can eventually bring someone back into the fold.
Now, we just need to see the show figure out a way to bring back in Natalie Dormer. With (spoiler alert) her time on “Game of Thrones” now over, there is at least one major schedule conflict off the table. Granted, there are still movies, but we do think that the quality of the role is strong and interesting enough to attract her back to the part for a given period of time. We’ll continue to beat that drum perpetually until we eventually see the return happen.
For the time being, though, feel free to share your reaction to the return of Kitty in the comments! You can also head over here to see some further “Elementary” news via our archive. (Photo: CBS.)
