‘The Flash’ season 3, episode 5 debate: Should Caitlin Snow be an evil Killer Frost?

Killer Frost -

We’ve spoken somewhat extensively regarding Caitlin Snow’s transformation into Killer Frost on “The Flash” in different forms; at this time one week ago, we wanted to hold out some element of hope that we could be seeing her still retaining an element of humanity.

Now that we’ve seen all of “Monster,” it’s a little harder to say we’re so sure in that capacity for several different reasons. For one, we saw her completely lose her cool (ironic thing to say) on several different occasions; it’s almost as though the powers took over her when she learned news that she didn’t want to hear. Upon freezing up that computer, we wonder if she can keep these said powers secret from the rest of the team anymore.

We know that this version of Caitlin has capacity for great good, given that she is kind, caring, and often does everything that she can in pursuit of science and the greater good. Yet, she’s experienced death on many fronts, heartache, and she’s been tormented by the likes of Zoom. She never wanted powers, and certainly doesn’t know what to do with them just yet. Her anger at receiving these and having little control over them could take over.

We cannot imagine Caitlin becoming a villain who likes to destroy others; however, we could see her becoming one who acts out of either distorted self-preservation or frustration over where life has taken her. Luckily, she has the help of a lot of people around her to try to corral some of these stark changes in her life, provided that they’re ever informed of the truth. Cisco Ramon and Barry Allen should understand better than anyone.

Regardless of whatever Caitlin becomes, there’s one thing we’re certainly thrilled for: The producers deciding that this was a better storyline for Caitlin than giving her another love interest. Danielle Panabaker’s gotta love this material, and the moral ambiguity that comes along with it.

Now, let’s turn this over to you: Will Caitlin turn evil at some point this season? Vote below.
