‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: What happens when the company is hacked?
There are fun coincidences in this world, and there are also some that qualify more as “unfortunate.” In the case of this particular “Empire” article, we’re talking more about the latter. When the writers were coming together to think about season 3 storylines and came up with one about a hack, we’re pretty darn sure that they weren’t hoping it come in the midst of WikiLeaks reveals and many major websites being taken down yesterday including Twitter, Netflix, Amazon, and more.
You’re going to see a hack specifically hit the “Empire” world on the upcoming November 9 episode (tentatively scheduled; it could be pushed a week depending on how far the World Series goes) entitled “Chimes at Midnight.” The synopsis below does a pretty good job of detailing precisely what you can expect to see over the course of the story:
“Empire is hacked and the leak creates feuds between artists and among the Lyon family. Andre takes advantage of the leak to step up and prove his worth to the company. Meanwhile, Lucious continues to try and drive a wedge between Cookie and Angelo, and Jamal finds himself in a love triangle.”
Basically, it doesn’t look as though anyone is going to be in a stable place when this episode airs, but what did you expect from “Empire” at this point? If we were to think for a moment about some of these stories on more of a meta level, one thing we do wonder is whether or not we’re going to be seeing more of Taye Diggs as Angelo now that “Murder in the First” is canceled. It would allow for some more opportunities to him to appear, and continue to cause problems in the Cookie / Lucious relationship.
