‘Timeless’ episode 4 sneak peek: Ian Fleming’s big debut in World War II

Timeless -Monday night’s new episode of “Timeless” seems to be following the rather-fantastic pattern set by the earlier installments of the series. By that, we mean specifically that the show is going to be doing its part to give you a little bit of time-travel drama, while at the same time some character mythology and some fun guest stars.

Specifically, what excites us about Monday night’s new Nazi Germany set episode is that it provides a great opportunity to see none other than “Once Upon a Time” star Sean Maguire stepping into this show as none other than Ian Fleming, the man responsible for giving the world a little something known as James Bond. There is potential for some really tremendous storytelling to come over the course of this episode, and the sneak peek below (via Entertainment Weekly) gives you a little bit of a sense of what the author was doing working as a spy during World War II.

In talking further about the idea for this episode, executive producer Shawn Ryan told the following to the aforementioned website:

“We knew we couldn’t just do a war movie, so where we landed was, ‘Alright, let’s do a spy movie then.’ We were thrilled [to learn Fleming was a spy in World War II], because we realized our World War II story was really a James Bond movie … And we had the real James Bond!”

Maguire is immediately striking in this role, and what is so impressive to us about this is that at no point do we actually think that he similar to Robin at all. It’s a good thing for an actor to get lost in a role, and he does just that here.
