Tonight, “The Vampire Diaries” is premiering on The CW, which is going to be quite tremendous for those of you out there eager to see precisely how this show will start building towards the end of the road. Damon and Enzo are in particular not in a great place, and much of the burden therefore is going to lie on the rest of the characters to try to figure out how to change things.
Given that the flagship show is returning, we don’t quite think it is all that big of a stretch to want to see a season of “The Originals” on the same night. These two shows have been timeslot companions for a little while now, and were coming off of this past spring.
The bad news is that the series starring Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies is not airing a new episode tonight; with that being said, you will have a chance to see it down the road. The show is slated to premiere at some point in the new year, and at that point you’ll get a further opportunity to see what happens to Klaus and company after they are woken up from their five-year slumber. Many things will have changed, Baby Hope is more of a present character, and there will be new threats that need to be taken out.
As for whether or not this is the final season of “The Originals” just like it is for “The Vampire Diaries,” that remains to be seen. Hopefully the ratings are at least solid enough to give us a season 5; whenever the final season happens, we hope the writers are told in advance so they can start to plan ahead.
Once there is some further news on “The Originals,” we will have them for you in due time. (Photo: The CW.)
