‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 spoilers: Sean Maguire teases Robin Hood’s return
There were reasons to be excited about Sean Maguire’s return to “Once Upon a Time” this coming season from the moment it was announced, but we do think that those reasons are expanding tenfold thanks to one reason: He’s not returning in flashback form. The version of Robin that you see will not necessarily be one who exists solely in the past. We’re not entirely sure what that means just yet, but we’re excited to see how it unfolds.
What we can offer you now are a few other teases from the actor himself regarding some conversations he had with creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis regarding his big comeback. Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, he had the following to say:
“I mean in all honesty, I’ve had conversations with [Adam and Eddy], we’ve had creative discussions about how Robin would be able to come back, and I said, ‘Look, I just feel like… it would make me feel unsatisfied as an audience member to do it as flashbacks,’ and they said, ‘No, that’s not our intention.’ They pitched me this idea and it sounded really interesting. It’s an opportunity to give some closure to this character, because I saw on social media that people felt that it was an abrupt end and it left a lot of questions unanswered. I don’t really know what the full completion of this arc is, I just know the premise and I thought it sounded interesting enough to give the audience that little bit of closure, and myself as well, because [I thought] it was rather quick and abrupt, too.”
It’s too early to say if this closure means that Regina will be happy by the end of it, but given the way that Hades did away with the character, we figure any future time spent with Robin will be better than the alternative, otherwise known as no real time at all and only further heartbreak.
