‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 18 spoilers: Another preview of Anthony Edwards appearance
For those out there who do remember when Mariska Hargitay first appeared on “ER” prior to “Law & Order: SVU” many years ago, there is something very fun about getting to see her reunite with Anthony Edwards on the upcoming episode of the show Wednesday night. Granted, we wish that it was for a role that wasn’t going to be so rough on him. Then again, as an actor is this preferred? That’s certainly possible.
The photo above, per TV Guide, is of Edwards for Wednesday’s episode “Rape Interrupted.” The synopsis below gives you a good sense of not only the robust guest cast, but also (briefly) what the story of this installment is going to be:
“A sergeant (Edwards) makes Benson (Mariska Hargitay) choose between loyalty and duty when his son is accused of rape. Also starring Ice T (Det. Odafin Tutuola), Kelli Giddish (Det. Amanda Rollins), Raul Esparza (ADA Rafael Barba) and Peter Scanavino (Det. Sonny Carisi). Also guest starring Corey Cott (Ellis Griffin), Anna Osceola (Janie Spears), Jenna Stern (Judge Elana Barth), Joseph Lyle Taylor (Mickey D’Angelo) and Kelly McAndrew (Diane Griffin).”
Our hope certainly is that over the course of this episode, we’ll have a chance to see Edwards and Hargitay work together extensively, even if it leads to Benson needing to turn her back on a colleague if it turns out that his son is guilty. She may want to help him, but there are limits to that based on his actions. She’s not one to tolerate any sort of assault or criminal behavior.
For those who missed the news, the Donald Trump-inspired episode that was originally going to be airing in this spot has since been moved to following the election.
