‘The Fall’ season 3: Jamie Dornan – Gillian Anderson series ending earlier than expected

The Fall -

Given that many British television shows tend to follow the beat of their own drummer when it comes to scheduling, the following news related to “The Fall” is probably something you’re going to want to write down. Otherwise, it may easy to forget due to your feeling that the series, starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, is going to be changing things up for its final weeks.

Rather than airing its season / potential series finale on Thursday, November 3, BBC Two confirmed late last week that the final episode will air on Friday, October 28, one day after the fifth and penultimate episode of the series. It’s hard to figure out precisely what the reasoning for this decision is, but it does certainly make these final episodes into even more of an event.

For us, the primary question we have entering these episodes is if Paul Spector will continue to be restrained in some way, whether it be physically or intellectually. This season so far has shown itself to be incredibly dramatic, and anchored by fantastic performances. At the same time, the pace is moving along in a slow, methodical fashion, almost as though we are waiting for something big to happen but we do not know quite what that something is going to be.

What we can tell you is that on Thursday night’s new episode (check out a further preview here), Stella Gibson is going to get an up-close-and-personal look at precisely how desperate Sally-Ann truly is at the moment. Meanwhile, Anderson’s character and Dr. Larson are going to come into some disagreements regarding their perception of Paul Spector at present. Is he criminally insane or well aware of his crimes? We hope for some sort of determination soon from a legal point of view.

Rest assured, we will continue to have full reviews up after each individual installment airs. (Photo: BBC.)
