‘Arrow’ season 5 boss teases ‘ambitious’ crossover with ‘Legends of Tomorrow,’ ‘Flash,’ and others
Going into this fall, we knew that The CW was preparing for one of the biggest superhero crossover events in the history of the network, given that you have “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” “The Flash,” and “Legends of Tomorrow” all thrown into a singular story. It will span multiple hours, it will change characters’ lives in a big way, and it has some of the most notorious villains we’ve seen to date in the Dominators.
Now, we’ve got a few more details about it courtesy of executive producer Marc Guggenheim, one of the creative forces behind the event. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he made it abundantly clear that in terms of scale, almost nothing comes close to what they are trying to pull off here:
“This year, we’re doing by far the most ambitious crossover we’ve ever done. It’s basically a huge three-part story that also brings in Supergirl, so it’s crossing over all four shows. It’s telling one big epic movie of a story. It’s not setting up any other spin-offs, it’s just big, bombastic, huge action. There’s also some really poignant character moments. There’s a lot of plot lines, particularly I would say in Flash and Legends, that come to fruition in the crossover. It’s by far the most ambitious thing we’ve ever attempted. I want to say it’s by far one of the most ambitious things anyone in network television has ever attempted. It’s completely insane.”
This crossover will be coming your way presumably in either November or December, and will set the stage for the winter finales for some of these shows. What’s also interesting is that these shows are free to just embrace any story that they want, given that there is no longer any worry in terms of having to set up a new show, which is something that has been necessarily in the past.
