Just in case you weren’t enjoying the start of “Scorpion” season 3 enough, maybe the following bit of news will excite you even more: The CBS show has now officially signed on Lea Thompson!
According to Entertainment Weekly, the “Switched at Birth” actress (also known for “Back to the Future” and “Caroline in the City”) is going to guest star and potentially recur over the course of several episodes in the role of Paige’s mother Veronica Dineen. Let’s just say that she is hardly your everyday Mommy Dearest. She is a con artist who spent years behind bars, and will be coming into the show for the upcoming Thanksgiving installment. She will have stumbled on accident upon a long-forgotten nuclear reactor, and with some bad people hunting her down, she will be bringing a case to Team Scorpion in one way or another. She’s never met Ralph, and while she may want to reconnect with her family, she could still have skeletons in the closet.
All in all, you will see Thompson in at least two episodes of the season, and we imagine that it’ll be a thrill to get to see her work alongside Katharine McPhee and the rest of the cast for a little while. The one thing we’ve seen over time with this show is that anytime that they do bring in some guest stars to play various friends / family / other connections, it proves itself to be extremely entertaining and well worth the price of admission.
You will be able to see more of Thompson throughout the final season of “Switched at Birth,” premiering early next year on Freeform.
