If there is one person at this point, at least in the world of television, who has shown that he can make a lot out of a little, it’s Angus MacGyver. Therefore, Friday night’s new episode of “MacGyver” should prove itself to be a fairly entertaining affair.
First and foremost, you’ve got the prospect of making a gas mask out of trash, which seems both funny and incredibly ironic given that more often than not, you would use a gas mask to get away from trash. Also, there are smoke bombs aplenty, and an elaborate car chase.
The way we’re talking, you would probably think immediately that this is a high-octane episode on the level of the pilot; yet, that is actually not the case at all. This seems, based on some of the details that have been released to date by CBS, to be one of the more stripped-bare episodes of the series so far. MacGyver and Jack are tasked with extracting from a terrorist group a finance man named Ralph, but at some point things will get so dire that they will have to rely only on a driver’s license and hand sanitizer to try to achieve their mission. To us, the best stories this show can give are the ones where MacGyver has to use his mind in order to escape problems. If you want to see some high-powered organization through a bunch of money at a problem, we figure that there are a wide array of other places on TV you can go for that.
