‘Victoria’ episode 8 (finale) preview: How Jenna Coleman, cast wrap things up for now

We have seen many a story play out on “Victoria” this season, but all things must come to an end, right? This is where we are going into next week’s season finale, which is thankfully not the end of the Jenna Coleman series. ITV previously renewed the show for a second season, so think of this mostly as a chance to just see the story evolve — albeit in a particularly shocking way.

The synopsis below gives you a few more details as to what to expect. Unfortunately, let’s just say that things take a violent turn as an attempt at an assassination leads to a bit of chaos:

“A heavily pregnant Victoria is frustrated by both Albert and her mother’s attempts to confine her to the Palace as the period drama series concludes. Determined to show herself in public, Victoria goes for a drive and is accosted by an unhinged admirer. She is taken aback, but is determined not to be deterred. Despite Albert’s misgivings, they go out again together – only to be shot at by a man in the crowd. Conspiracy theories abound, with the Duchess certain that Cumberland was behind the assassination attempt. She later realises that, unlike her uncle, she is a monarch who must put the constitution and her country before her own needs.”

Ultimately, our hope is that this story, despite its many highs and lows, gives us at least some sort of conclusion that makes us feel good about where we are leaving off. Given that this is a historical drama, there is really no need for some sort of dramatic cliffhanger.
