‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13, episode 2 video: Alex prepares for charges

Thursday night’s new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” is going to be a big one, and we certainly hope that Alex is in a little bit of a better mood for much of it than he is in the image above.

To be fair, he’s got quite the reason to be upset right now, given that he runs the risk of losing his career and/or being in prison as a result of what happened to him at the end of last season with Andrew DeLuca. He’s out for blood after Alex beat him to a pulp, and the surprise in the sneak peek below is that what was originally thought of as just a misdemeanor crime is being labeled instead a felony. This could change everything, and that includes how Alex wants to plea. It also means the ramifications are far more severe.

Ultimately, you do wonder if DeLuca and the prosecution is flying a little too close to the sun with their strategy, especially since we have a hard time imagining “Grey’s Anatomy” without Alex being employed as a doctor in some capacity. We suppose that more than anything else, we want the process to be excited and compelling every step of the way. One of the interesting things in the case is that it could be about DeLuca in the end just as much as it is Alex.

We don’t imagine one way or another that this story will be over by the end of this episode … but we could be finding out soon.
