‘Big Brother: Over the Top’ cast spotlight: Meet ‘OTT’ houseguest Shane Chapman
Is “Big Brother” ready for its second contestant named Shane in the past five or so years? Well, we’re about to have that in Shane Chapman! He’s a little bit of an odd duck (as opposed to a sitting duck) when it comes to his vibe and his personality. There’s a part of us that likes him, but also a part of us that wonders why in the world he was put on the show. He feels way too quiet and even-keeled for this nonsense.
Below, we’re still going to our part to size up how he’s going to fare this season in our latest spotlight. (We’ve only got one more to write after this one!)
Bio – Shane’s a 24-year old roofer who lives in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, which really seems to be in the middle of nowhere beyond being a 40-minute drive south from Asheville. We do like that he’s got a really blue-collar job, and a normal job — something that most contestants know very little about.
Strengths – He looks a little bit like Malcolm or Ozzy from “Survivor” with the hair, so that has to be good for something, right? He seems to be in good physical shape, but he also seems to be laid-back enough that he’s not going to feel the need to win everything. He’s from a similar region as many other contestants are this season, and we could easily see many of these people ultimately band together. Maybe these are people who are intentionally-unaware and can be sucked in to the live feed experiment?
Weaknesses – For one, the guy apparently has a nasty chewing-tobacco habit, which is a huge turn-off. If he brings that stuff in the game we can’t imagine anyone will like it. He’s also way too obsessed with getting into a showmance per his CBS video online. He talks about it AT LENGTH, and judging from his claim that he once traveled 600 miles to break up with someone, he may be a tad too emotionally-driven.
Prediction – Shane’s firmly middle-of-the-road to us. He’s a little boring, and he’s not so offensive that people will get rid of him. We just don’t see either a killer instinct or anything about him that is going to make him popular in the eyes of America, who will have a lot of control this season.
