‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 3, episode 8 preview: Will Joe get arrested?
Tonight’s new episode of “Halt and Catch Fire” ended with Joe MacMillan getting some great news, followed by some incredibly terrible news. While he did have a chance to learn that Gordon wants him on board his new version of the company, Ryan Ray had secretly burned the old version to the ground by leaking things to the press.
For Ryan, he proclaimed that he was so careful about it that there would be no way he’d ever get found out for what he did. Yet, at the same exact time there’s another problem he may not be thinking about: Joe will be the primary suspect in what happened. This in turn leads Joe to question whether or not to turn on one of the few people who has been loyal to him almost all season.
Part of the issue here for Joe is that he’s at a moral crossroads between his past and his present. We do think that the season 1 version of the character would have easily decided that it was best to turn Ryan in and keep moving forward, but Joe has been to the edge now. We feel he’s questioned his mortality, and realizes that there is not a whole lot her cherishes in this world. Ryan shares his ideals, and Joe likely understands why he did what he did.
We do know that Joe is willing to let the police arrive to his door — but unfortunately, that is where the promo ends.
