‘The X Factor’ UK review: Emily Middlemas, Olivia Garcia, Gifty Louise make Team Simon Cowell

Simon -It feels like we’re constantly saying this about the Girls as a category on “The X Factor,” but year in and year out it feels like one of the strongest. There’s a ton of talent that tends to come out of the category, but the challenge here is often finding the right personalities and also making sure that these young women pick the songs that best indicate who they will be as artists. Given that Simon Cowell is mentoring them this year, they are going to get quite an opportunity!

Take a look below at the six ladies who made it through the gauntlet otherwise known as the Six-Chair Challenge this weekend.

Gifty Louise – Probably to us the one singer who could be a pop star almost right out of the box. She’s got the voice, the look, and the swagger. She’s not perfect vocally, but she’s well on the way.

Emily Middlemas – We love Emily in the same way that we do any singer-songwriter type who comes on this show and goes far. She’s a little low-key, but she’s original and could do cool things moving forward.

Olivia Garcia – She’s the singer we sometimes forget about being on this season and hate ourselves for it later. In balancing out her voice and her personality, she is one of the most well-rounded of the bunch.

Kayleigh Marie Morgan – There were moments tonight where we worried that she wasn’t going to make it through, but we’re glad she did. She does have some work to do regarding consistency.

Soheila Clifford – She’s got a cool vibe for this competition, but “Love Me Like You Do” really isn’t a great choice for this particular competition.

Caitlyn Vanbeck – We’ve seen a ton of what she can do vocally already, but we still think there is more untapped potential here and we actually do get some of the Kelly Clarkson comparisons.
