‘Gotham’ season 3 spoilers: Maggie Geha on Ivy 2.0’s motiviations
If you’re ready to see the new incarnation of Ivy Pepper on “Gotham,” you’re in luck: The Fox series is not going to force you to wait too much longer! On Monday, the new version of the character as played by Maggie Geha is going to emerge following the incident in the premiere. She’s grown up considerably, and in the process of that has a larger knowledge resource in terms of what she can do, and how she can influence others.
One other thing that comes with the new Ivy is apparently some new allegiances … or lack thereof. When it comes to Selina Kyle, Geha tells TVLine that a misunderstanding could cause the two parties to be at odds:
“Ivy is not aware that Selina chased after her and tried to help, so she feels very much that she was on her own during that horrible experience, and Selina didn’t come to her aid. So when Ivy wakes up, she’s [furious]. Her only friend in the entire world abandoned her — in her eyes.”
Even if Ivy had a different understanding of precisely what happened with Selina at the time she fell, we don’t exactly think it would change much. As Geha tells the website, it appears that she is going to be a little bit of a loner:
“The new Ivy doesn’t like anybody. She sees people as a plague on the Earth … But she loves plants. It’s like when you’re in an airplane and you feel a bit claustrophobic because the air isn’t good quality — Ivy needs plants to feel normal, to ‘breathe.’ Humans, though, she sees as just wastes of space.”
While we don’t want to get too excited for this episode until we actually see it, for the time being we’ll at least say that it looks as though this story has some significant promise.
