‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 18, episode 1 video: Danger comes from surprising source
The premiere of “Law & Order: SVU” is coming this week to NBC, and if the sneak peek is any indication, one thing feels fairly clear: The series is not slowing down despite having a new showrunner on board in Rick Eid.
This preview starts off innocently enough, with Benson showing up at a park to find a young boy who seems to be unable to speak English. She tries to appeal to him in a motherly away, telling him that she wants to help him and is kind enough to introduce her son Noah to him. However, things take a shocking turn the moment that Benson reaches out to try to convince the child to get up and come with her, as he pulls a gun out of a backpack and points it directly at Olivia.
Benson effectively does have Noah hide behind her as she figures out a way to defuse the situation, which is something that she feels as though she can handle. Maybe she can, but this is an incredibly tough situation because children can be unpredictable. Not only that, but we don’t know precisely what this particular child has been taught over the course of their short life.
Ultimately, we expect this episode to be all sorts of scary and eventful; we especially feel like this is going to challenge the entire team sense they have to deal with the dichotomy of innocent and also grave danger.
