‘Gotham’ season 3, episode 2 preview: The new Poison Ivy; the search for Hugo Strange
On Monday night’s season premiere of “Gotham,” there is going to be a substantial amount of stuff happening over the course of the hour. The series has to set up what the new role of Jim Gordon is going to be within the city, while also showing Fish Mooney as a threat, Bruce Wayne as a burgeoning businessman, and also villains like Oswald Cobblepot and others in a new position. This is a show with a huge cast, and from time to time, we do understand that certain people will pop in and out of the story.
For at least the early going this season, we especially anticipate that Maggie Geha is going to be front and center as the new, older version of Ivy Pepper. She’s been transformed into a character much more akin to her DC Comics counterpart, and one of the most interesting things about next week’s new episode entitled “Mad City: Burn the Witch…” is going to be seeing how she adjusts to the world.
Now that we’ve said that, we do not necessarily think that this title is a reference to her character at all. Instead, we see this more as a clear nod to Fish Mooney and the manhunt that could be forming for her, while at the same time she’ll spend her time during this episode looking for Hugo Strange. BD Wong, who is rather busy these days thanks to playing Whiterose on “Mr. Robot,” is still going to have a role to play.
Also, get ready next week to see a good bit of Jamie Chung as Valerie Vale, as Jim Gordon will seek her out for assistance.
